Vital Records Registration
The Honorary Consulate of Lebanon in Halifax assists Lebanese citizens in Nova Scotia with registering vital life events, including births, marriages, and deaths.
Registration of Marriage
- Fill out a Marriage Application.
- A copy of the Husband’s recent family Ikhraj Kayd.
- A copy of Wife’s recent family Ikhraj Kayd.
- Canadian original statement of marriage (long form). To apply online visit: https://beta.novascotia.ca/apply-marriage-certificate
- Spouse’s long-form birth certificate and current passport (if not Lebanese)
- Fees=Free of charge Note: An attestation will be issued by the Embassy confirming the registration.
Note: The Personal/Family application form is required in order to process your application.
Registration of Divorce
- Fill out a Divorce Application
- A copy of a recent (not older than 1 year) family Ikhraj Kayd.
- A copy of the Lebanese Marriage Certificate .
- Original Divorce Judgment and Divorce Certificate legalized by the Canadian Foreign affairs and translated to Arabic by a certified translator. To apply online visit: https://beta.novascotia.ca/programs-and-services/vital-statistics
- In case the marriage is religious; the original religious divorce has to be legalized from the competent religious authorities.
- In order to finalize the divorce, a Special Power of Attorney has to be made to a person in Lebanon.
- Fees= $90.00 CDN by a money order payable to “The Embassy of Lebanon”.
Please ensure that the date of marriage mentioned on the Judgment and the Certificate of Divorce is identical to the date of marriage mentioned on the certificate of marriage issued by the Lebanese authorities.

Registration of Birth
- Fill out a Birth Application
- A copy of a recent (not older than 1 year) Family Ikhraj Kayd.
- Lebanese Marriage Certificate
- Child original statement of live birth (long form).To apply online visit:https://beta.novascotia.ca/programs-and-services/vital-statistics
- If mother is not Lebanese provide a Copy of her Long Form Birth Certificate & A copy of her passport
- Fees= Free of charge

Registration of Death
- Fill out a Death Certificate Application
- A copy of a recent (not older than 1 year) Family Ikhraj Kayd.
- Original Death Certificate/ statement of death from the regional government services. To apply online visit: https://beta.novascotia.ca/programs-and-services/vital-statistics
- Lebanese Passport if applicable (to be cancelled by the Consulate Office).
- Fees=Free of charge
